Oct 9, 2026 Consensus Solana's clock finally halved: 200ms slots are live, and an epoch now lasts about a day Epoch 1053 cut the slot to 200ms, half the original clock. Confirmations arrive sooner, staking rewards land about once a day, and the network's capacity per second stays the same.
Sep 24, 2026 Consensus Alpenswitch is on public testnet: Solana is rehearsing the move to its new consensus, Alpenglow Public testnet is running the TowerBFT-to-Alpenglow migration this week. Anza's note also carries a September 28 mark that is easy to misread. Wallets on mainnet do not change.
Sep 19, 2026 Consensus Solana's clock just sped up: 250ms slots are live on mainnet Epoch 1037 activated 250ms slots – the third cut from 400ms toward 200ms. Wallets feel snappier; throughput does not jump. The last step, 200ms, landed on 9 October.
Sep 1, 2026 Ecosystem My Solana Summit in Belgrade 2026: the most interesting part happened away from the stage Two days in Belgrade, my first Solana summit. I went mainly for the networking – and I did not think it would be this easy.
Aug 3, 2026 Clients Agave 4.2: cheaper rent, larger transactions, faster slots – Alpenglow on deck Anza's August release cuts rent ~90%, raises max tx size to 4096 bytes, and starts the slot-time cuts. Full Alpenglow code ships for testing; the consensus flip is still gated.
Jul 15, 2026 Consensus Alpenglow moves closer to mainnet: where Solana's biggest consensus change stands Votor consensus is rolling out through Agave, with testnet activation this summer and mainnet targeted for late 2026. What ships now, what waits, and what changes for validators.
Jul 8, 2026 Governance Solana gets on-chain governance, and your stake is now a vote Solana Governance Proposals went live on July 2. Stake-weighted votes are now on-chain, and delegators can override their validator's position.
Jul 4, 2026 Clients Firedancer is live on mainnet: why a second validator client matters Jump Crypto's independent client is producing mainnet blocks. Client diversity is now a production reality, not a roadmap item.
